Former police officer fired after forcing arrestee to lick urine off jail floor, officials say
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT/Gray News) - A former Mississippi police officer was fired after he filmed himself forcing an arrestee to lick his urine off the jail floor, officials say.
WLBT reported that 26-year-old Michael Christian Green was a patrol officer with the Pearl Police Department when the incident happened on December 23, 2023.
It all started when the detainee, identified as B.E. was arrested at Sam’s Club following a domestic incident.
Surveillance video showed B.E. attempting to tell Green that he needed to go the restroom, but he never responded, WLBT reported.
Eventually, the detainee urinated in the corner of the cell.
After Green found out, he threatened the detainee telling him to lick up the urine or get beat up, according to court documents. Green stood over B.E. while he licked up the urine and took his phone out to film the incident.
The man gagged every time he made contact with the floor. Each time, Green told B.E., “Don’t spit it out.”
The detainee was eventually allowed to leave the holding cell. However, after returning to the booking area, he repeatedly vomited in the booking area garbage can.
After officials learned about the incident, Green was relieved of his duties on December 27.
On Thursday, Green pleaded guilty to one count of acting under color of law to deprive a person of his civil rights. He faces a maximum of 12 months in prison.
