Senator Thune talks about the future of cybersecurity

On Wednesday South Dakota Senator John Thune led a hearing about cybersecurity in Washington D.C.

Thune talked about the risks and benefits of artificial intelligence, blockchain, and quantum computing and how these emerging technologies impact the future of cybersecurity.

Thune says by 2020, there may be more than 50 billion devices connected to the internet.

U.S. Senator John Thune says, "To be clear, cybersecurity is not solely a technology issue. Also, while there is no silver-bullet solution to cybersecurity risks, I believe promoting public-private partnerships on risk management, foundational research, and a robust cyber workforce are essential to combating these challenges."

Thune says he will send letters to the Secretary of Commerce and the Secretary of Transporation asking them to prioritize the cybersecurity of federal systems.
