Rising Star of the West scholarship contest entry deadline just days away

The deadline is almost here if you want to enter this year's Rising Star of the West scholarship contest.

Area high school students need to get their entries to us by Tuesday.

If you do, you could join last year's winner, Emma Smith of Rapid City as our Rising Star of the West.

We are again giving away $7,500 in scholarships from Black Hills FOX and Granite Automotive.

All you need to do to enter is get us a short video of yourself talking anything you feel strongly about.

From those entries, we'll pick our 20 contestants to do on-air commentaries and then we'll get down to our four finalists who will be back to complete for the scholarships.
