Joshua Skinner
Reporter
Atlanta, GA
Joshua is a multimedia journalist who writes, edits, and produces his own stories on deadline.
Living by the motto that the news shouldn't be boring, Joshua covers “counterprogramming” assignments, focusing his stories on the people, places, and problems that affect metro Atlanta. Using creative writing and pushing the boundary of what qualifies as a standup (he once got a tattoo as part of a story), Joshua has won numerous awards for his breaking news coverage, continuing coverage, weather reporting, health reporting, environmental/energy reporting, and beat reporting.
His story about the reopening of the historic Tara Theatre won a 2024 EMMY for Best Daily News Report.
Before arriving in Georgia in spring 2023, Joshua covered the people of West Texas, where he was twice named the Texas Association of Broadcasters (TAB) Multimedia Journalist of the Year and Reporter of the Year.
A service academy graduate from Texas, he spent most of his twenties gallivanting around the Atlantic, Europe, and the Middle East, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer. In his free time, you can find him in the gym or a good book (currently working on 'The Splendid and the Vile' by Erik Larson). He believes putting pineapple on pizza is an unforgivable crime.
