Dusty Baker

Dusty Baker is the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter of WAVE News. He joined WAVE News in March 2023.
Prior to joining the WAVE team, Dusty called California his home. He originally grew up in Santa Clarita, California before moving to Fort Worth, Texas to attend Texas Christian University. Dusty graduated from TCU with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, a certificate in sports journalism, and a minor in business. While at TCU, Dusty started a new on-campus sports show for TCU 360, “Unscripted,” and worked for TCU Football in the recruiting department.
Prior to his time working in television, Dusty served as the Program Director and Team Advisor for the Business and Entrepreneurship program with the National Student Leadership Conference at Yale University, Northwestern University, the University of Washington, and UCLA.
In 2017, Dusty began his broadcasting journey in Abilene, Texas as a general assignment news reporter for KRBC, the NBC affiliate.
In 2018, he took over as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter for Bigcountryhomepage.com Sports in Abilene for KRBC and the CBS affiliate, KTAB.
During his time in Abilene, Dusty covered Abilene Christian’s first run in the 2019 NCAA Tournament out in Jacksonville, Florida. It was the first time Dusty encountered Kentucky sports, as the University of Kentucky defeated ACU in convincing fashion, 79-44.
He additionally covered the 2020 MLB Postseason when the NLDS, NLCS, and World Series took place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Dusty returned to California to continue his broadcasting career in 2021. He joined the NBC affiliate in San Luis Obispo, KSBY, as a Sports Anchor/News Reporter.
He is not the manager of the Houston Astros. However, he is named after the manager.
In his free time, Dusty enjoys traveling and visiting friends and family from across the country. He studied abroad in London at Roehampton University and developed a passion for meeting new people and telling their stories following that experience. He is a diehard fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Chargers, and TCU Horned Frogs.
