Jody Kerzman
Anchor
Bismarck
After taking a few years off, I'm thrilled to be back at KFYR-TV, which was my first "real" job after college. I started at the station for the first time in 1997 and tried my hand at just about every job in the newsroom. I was a reporter and a photographer, assignment editor, assistant news director, producer and anchor. I'm proud to say I helped launch First News at 5 back in 2000. I left KFYR-TV in 2011 to spend more time with my four busy kids, but never left Bismarck.
In 2018, JR Havens called and asked if I could help for a few weeks as weekend anchor. A few weeks turned into two years of producing and anchoring the weekend newscasts!
I officially came back full time in January 2021 as a reporter and anchor. I've now moved from the weekends to the weekdays; you'll find me behind the anchor desk with my friend Kevin Lawrence for First at 4 (produced by one of my favorite former co-workers from the old days, Heather Brumbaugh!).
When I'm not working, I am busy enjoying every moment I can with my kids, whether at a swim meet, a band concert or a basketball game. When you have a baby, the smart moms always say it goes quickly. Now that my oldest two are out on their own, I realize those moms are right and I am soaking up these last few years with my younger kids. My husband and I will be empty nesters before we know it!
The best part about this job is telling your stories; my favorite stories are those of people doing good things. I truly believe most people are good, and I'm determined to share as many good news stories as I can! So, if you've got a great story idea, send me an email! And follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
