Cody Dennis joined KOTA Territory News as a multi-media journalist in February of 2023. He is a transplant from Richmond, Virginia but plans to grow to love Rapid City. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications.
Since high school, Cody knew he wanted to pursue journalism. He saw the value in telling people’s stories and sharing them with the community. He knew that was what he wanted to do. He recalls doing amateur coverage of protests in 2016 as the first time he tried his hand at storytelling, and he fell in love with it.
Growing up in central Virginia gave him a good grasp of DC politics but he felt that something was missing. With that in mind, he made his mind up to leave his hometown of Richmond, Virginia and lay roots in South Dakota to learn more about middle America.
