Brittney Hazelton

Brittney Hazelton was born and raised in Shreveport, La. They're a professional, self-taught local artist and are now one of KSLA’s digital content producers and a writer for the Arklatex Today 12.

They were named a juried roster artist by Shreveport Regional Arts Council in 2015 and then joined the local artist group, Lab Rat Arts. A fantasy surrealist, they express themself through multiple mediums: acrylics, watercolor, woodwork, fantasy literature, and digital arts. Their work has been on display at many local art shows.

They have worked closely with a few non-profit organizations in the community, including Bossier Arts Council, Shreveport Arts Council, and were the founding vice chair of NWLA Makerspace.

During their time with NWLA Makerspace, Brittney helped produce their marketing material and with the assistance of their husband, published the Makerspace’s newsletter. They provided information to the public about makerspaces and their cultural and job creation impact, as well as highlighted local makers and artists.

They began their work with KSLA in June of 2022 and have plans to contribute to the news in big ways, especially in covering art, culture, and gaming in the Ark-La-Tex.

Arklatex Artistry is Brittney Hazelton's segment which explores the outstanding creative talent in the area.
