7-year-old’s throat cut with knife at park
DETROIT (Gray News) - A 7-year-old girl was injured in a knife attack at a park in Detroit.
Police said the attack happened Tuesday at Ryan Park.
The girl, identified as Saida M., said she was at the park with a family member when a man randomly approached her and cut her throat with a knife, WXYZ reported.
The girl said she “kicked his legs medium hard,” screamed for help and ran. A neighbor who heard the girl’s screams tended to the girl’s wounds, WXYZ said.
Saida was taken to the hospital, given stitches and released.
The suspect was tracked down with the public’s help, police said.
Gary Lansky, 73, was charged with assault with intent to murder and felonious assault, WDIV reported.
The suspect’s family said he was suffering from a mental illness, police said.
