GRAPHIC: Body found dismembered at house; cooked body parts found in kitchen, police say
MT. OLIVET, Ky. (WXIX/Gray News) - Authorities in Kentucky say they are investigating after a worker discovered parts of a woman’s body behind a home earlier this week.
Kentucky State Police said they were called to the home by a man who said he was doing work at the property on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, the worker went looking for the property owner that day after there was no answer at the door.
The man told police that he noticed drag marks in the grass that led him to find a dismembered body behind the home.
The arms, legs and head were all removed from the woman’s body, authorities said.
After an investigation, Kentucky State Police announced Thursday that Torilena May Fields, 32, was arrested in connection with the crime.
According to police, Fields was found with blood on herself when she was removed from the home after refusing to come out.
Police said the worker also told them that he saw the victim and Fields the previous day while checking the property for the work that was needed.
According to the citation, troopers said they found multiple body parts and organs inside a folded mattress when they were checking the property.
They also found what appeared to be cooked human body parts in a warm pot in the oven of the kitchen.
Additionally, state police shared that the worker told them that Fields appeared to be casting spells and was being confrontational during his visit on Tuesday.
Fields is currently being held at the Bourbon County Detention Center and faces several charges that include obstructing governmental operations, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 14.
The identity of the deceased woman was not immediately released.
