Garth Brooks names rape accuser in court filing, claims woman is attempting to blackmail him
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT/Gray News) - Garth Brooks has named the woman who has accused him of rape while claiming he is the victim of a shakedown.
The country music superstar filed an amended complaint in a Mississippi U.S. District Court.
In the filing, Brooks identified his accuser, but for reporting purposes, the names of sexual assault victims or alleged sexual assault victims are typically not released unless they come forth publicly.

So far, the woman has only identified herself in a civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court as “Jane Roe,” a hair and makeup stylist who worked for Brooks and his wife, singer Trisha Yearwood.
Roe has accused Brooks of raping her in a Los Angeles hotel room in May 2019 and subjecting her to other sexual conduct and harassment.
The singer claims that Roe threatened to go public with allegations against him to extort money.
He has denied the allegations and said the fear of having “such revulsive and untrue allegations have caused emotional distress, including anxiety, and fear for himself and his family.”
The amended filing comes after Roe filed her lawsuit in California. In that complaint, Roe said Brooks learned of her financial hardship and used that to take advantage of her.
However, Brooks said he’s the victim of a “shakedown,” and that the defendant “devised a malicious scheme to blackmail [him] into paying her millions of dollars [after] he rejected her request for salaried employment and medical benefits.”
Brooks is now seeking a trial by jury, a declaratory judgment against the woman, and an injunction prohibiting her from continuing “extortionate behavior” and “further publicizing her false allegations,” the Los Angeles Times reports.
The woman’s legal team said they are appalled that the singer would publicly name the rape victim in the case, and they will be pushing for maximum sanctions against him.
