LOS ANGELES (Gray News) – The Hollywood Walk of Fame is about to add its next star, this time honoring a fictional icon.

In a release, the Hollywood Walk of Fame announced a beloved superhero would be the first of his kind to receive such a star.

That superhero is the legendary Batman.

The comic book character will receive the 2,790th star on the Walk of Fame in the category of Motion Pictures.

Attending the ceremony will be DC’s president, publisher and chief creative officer Jim Lee and SVP & general manager Anne DePies.

The Walk of Fame also said Batman would be awarded with the Guinness World Records title for the first superhero with a star.

Batman was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger and first appeared in Detective Comics No. 27 in 1939 and quickly became a popular character that readers wanted to see again and again.

The character has since become a cultural powerhouse, with thousands of comics, hundreds of books, and dozens of films, cartoons and video games based around the character in the decades since his creation.

The superhero has most recently been portrayed on the big screen by English actor Robert Pattinson in 2022’s “The Batman,” with a sequel planned for 2026.

Other actors who have played the character include Adam West, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and Kevin Conroy.

Batman’s cultural relevance is seemingly timeless, as his image is “reinvented for every generation by incredible writers and artists both behind the camera and at the drawing board.”

“Batman has transcended his story into one of the great American myths. He is vengeance. He is the night. He is Batman,” the Walk of Fame said.

Batman will receive a star on the Walk of Fame at 11 a.m. PT on Sept. 26.
