18-year-old accused of driving under the influence in deadly New Year's Day crash
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE/Gray News) - An 18-year-old woman was charged in a deadly crash that happened on New Year’s Day.
The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on Greenbelt Highway in Louisville, Kentucky.
Louisville Metro Police said Summer McGaha, who was 17 years old at the time, was speeding when she lost control of the car and went off the road.
The car went down an embankment and the passenger was ejected. The passenger died at the scene and McGaha was taken to the hospital.
Police said McGaha was under the influence of alcohol and had a blood alcohol content of .10.
McGaha is charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and having an expired license plate. She was placed on a $50,000 bond.
