‘Heart-wrenching': Family dog kills 4-year-old girl, police say

VISALIA, Calif. (Gray News) – A 4-year-old girl was attacked and killed by her family’s dog Wednesday night, according to police.
The Visalia Police Department said in a post on Facebook the little girl had just finished swimming and was inside the home when the pit bull attacked her.
She was given medical attention and taken to the hospital but died from her injuries.
Detectives said an investigation revealed no signs of neglect or criminal wrongdoing.
“This heart-wrenching event is a tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this incredibly difficult time,” the Visalia Police Department wrote.
