‘They need a miracle from God’: Horrible crash leaves 8-year-old, grandmother paralyzed
OAKVILLE, Mo. (KMOV/Gray News) - An 8-year-old and her grandmother are both paralyzed following a horrific crash in Missouri, according to officials.
The two-car crash happened around 3 p.m. on Aug. 14.
Officers said the 8-year-old, Gracie, was riding with her grandmother, Barb and mom, Taryn Rose, when the crash occurred.
Police said the 16-year-old driving the other car involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
According to a GoFundMe page, the teen was going over 80 miles per hour.
Gracie and Barb were taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
The Rose family said Gracie broke her neck and has been paralyzed from her chin down.
The 8-year-old also has a broken pelvis, kidney failure, fluid in her lungs, and will require a ventilator and feeding tube for the rest of her life, according to the fundraising page.
“This is going to be a long road to recovery, and even though we do not know exactly what the future will look like for them, every little bit helps as they try to navigate through this unexpected tragedy. Thank you, everyone, and please keep praying for them, they need a miracle from God,” the organizer said.
Barb has a broken hip, spine fracture and a spinal cord injury that has left her paralyzed from the chest down. She is currently intubated until her sternum heals.
Gracie’s mother Taryn suffered a broken rib, swelling around her kidneys, fluid on her heart, spinal process fracture and sutures above her eye. She has been released from the hospital and continues to recover.
