TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG/Gray News) – A 17-year-old girl appeared to have been electrocuted while going into a camper, according to the Toledo Police Department.

A spokesperson with the police department said Olivia Bright had burns on her right hand and was in cardiac arrest while entering the camper after 9 p.m. Sunday.

“She passed away unexpectedly due to electric shock/ heart failure,” her sister Kelly Perry in a GoFundMe post.

Officials from Toledo Edison said the camper was not energized at the time. Officers also noted that the camper was unplugged, the door was closed, and the door was not charred.

The police report adds that Bright was barefoot, and the ground was wet from the rain.

An investigation into the teen’s death is ongoing.
