EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) - A nurse was arrested after she stole medication from a jail inmate, according to deputies.

Authorities started investigating Tracy Davis, who is employed by a third-party vendor and works at the Vanderburgh County Jail, on August 7.

According to authorities, jail staff thought she might have been impaired because she was acting disoriented and confused.

Security footage revealed Davis tampered with and moved Suboxone tablets from their normal location to somewhere that was out of the camera’s view, according to authorities.

Suboxone is an opioid prescription drug used to treat opioid dependence.

Investigators noted several errors were found in the entries made by Davis into the jail’s controlled substances log.

On August 8, she returned to the jail for work and was interviewed by detectives. Detectives said she admitted to taking the Suboxone.

Davis was arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of theft and possession of drugs.
