BEACON FALLS, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) - A German shepherd was found tied to the side of the highway in Connecticut.

Late Sunday night, the Woodbridge Regional Animal Control posted photos of the dog to social media.

Officials said a woman had called state police after she saw the dog along Route 8 south near Beacon Falls.

“This poor intact young male shepherd was tied up to the side of the highway with a prong collar on,” authorities said. “No food nor no water. Totally skin and bones.”

Anyone who may have information regarding the person responsible for leaving the dog on the side of the highway is asked to contact the Woodbridge Regional Animal Control at 203-389-5991. Callers can remain anonymous.

Animal control said the dog is not available for adoption while the investigation continues.
