WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Vice President Kamala Harris continues her outreach to Democratic Party officials in an effort aimed at unifying the party– a day after President Joe Biden exited the 2024 presidential race and Harris became the likely Democratic Presidential nominee.

In her first public appearance since President Biden ended his re-election campaign and endorsed her, Vice President Kamala Harris heaped praise on her boss and the job that he’s done.

“In one term, he has already surpassed the legacy of most presidents who served two terms in office.”

Harris followed up those remarks at the White House to NCAA student athletes with an afternoon trip to her presidential campaign headquarters in Delaware –a visit aimed at uniting a Democratic Party that’s still processing the abrupt withdraw of Biden from the presidential race. Marcus Mason is a member of the Democratic National Committee.

“Joe Biden is a good man… a good man, who did a great thing yesterday. And I never thought in my lifetime that I would see something like this.

In the meantime, a Trump Super PAC is already going after the Vice President in a new hard-hitting campaign ad – airing in key battleground states.

“Look what she got done: a border invasion, runaway inflation, the American Dream dead. They created this mess. They know Kamala owns this failed record.”

But in just the past 24 hours, the new Harris campaign says it’s raised more than 80 million dollars. At the same time, former President Bill Clinton, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former Presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and John Kerry – have coalesced around the Vice President as this year’s Democratic standard bearer.

DNC Member Marcus Mason says the party’s top brass understand the urgency.

“They understand the need to unite the party immediately. They understand the imminent threat that is Donald Trump and JD Vance. They understand the imminent threat of their Manifesto project 2025. They understand that imminent threat to democracy.”

With just 106 days until election day, the Vice President still needs to choose a running mate, a choice that could help Democrats reset a race – in which polls show former President Trump with a consistent lead. In the meantime, President Biden – still recovering from covid - has said he will complete his term and will address the nation about his historic decision later this week.
