WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Republican women gathered Tuesday at an RNC luncheon to discuss their important political role and why they say the GOP backs policies empowering women.

For women at the Republican National Convention, the Tuesday morning meeting gave them a chance to talk about why they’re supporting the Republican Party this year and emphasize how critical their vote is to the party.

“Women are a huge number of the population,” said Kathleen Hoban, Milwaukee resident. She went on, “And I think especially in the Republican Party, they haven’t completely gotten our vote yet. I know there that is a section that Trump has been missing.”

Rocklin Youngstrom, Chair of the Hawaii Young Republicans, emphasized the importance of women’s perspective in politics. “It’s extremely important that we are involved and we do have a voice of what’s going on when the Democrats, you know, try to push like a leftist agenda that women are oppressed and things like that.”

Rachel Moore, another resident of Milwaukee, spoke about how excited she was to see former President Donald Trump on the ballot. “Trump being, running again, I’m excited because we want to bring back the economy. I want to make our border safe again,” she said.

Arkansas Governor Huckabee Sanders gave the keynote address, sharing her story about starting in politics at a young age and why she believes this is the right party for women to support.

“So often you hear Democrats talk about being the party of women, which is, frankly, incredibly hard to believe since they can’t even tell you what a woman does. But even beyond that, they don’t support policies that empower women,” said Sanders.

The group hopes women will turn out in big numbers in November to support Trump and other Republicans on the ballot.
