Trump rally shooting update
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Hours after what is being investigated by the Secret Service as a possible assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump, the Secret Service confirmed a shooter fired multiple shots from an elevated position.
The shots were fired hours earlier in Butler, Pennsylvania, at a campaign rally. According to the Secret Service, the suspected shooter, who is being investigated and is now dead, fired from a platform outside the perimeter of the rally area.
Trump said he is looking forward to joining political supporters in Milwaukee for the 2024 Republican National Committee nominating convention.
According to the Secret Service, agents immediately protected Trump and brought him off the stage. They also killed the shooter. One rally attendee was killed and two others were injured. The Secret Service is still investigating the shooting, along with the FBI.
In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a statement released by the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee indicates they are moving forward with the Republican National Convention. Trump will arrive in Milwaukee in the next 48 hours, but the shooting will be the talk of the convention over the next few days.
