RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Mount Rushmore will be alive with music all summer with the Rushmore Music Festival, and the first of three planned concerts starts on Friday.

For those that aren’t familiar, every year the Rushmore Music Festival is put on at Mount Rushmore and features a range of music performers at concerts held throughout the summer.

The first of those concerts starts on Friday, at 5:30 p.m., and is free to anyone looking to attend. The title of Friday’s show is called “Songs of America” and will showcase a patriotic theme featuring the singer-songwriter Monique McCall as the opening act.

Attendees will get to hear some new music as well with McCall debuting a new orchestral version of her song “No Better Place” at the concert. McCall shared how she feels about performing at the National Monument.

“It’s more than moving I can’t even explain the feeling. I am absolutely blown away, it is going to be magnificent,” McCall said.

Other performers include a full-string quintet, violinist Karina Carley, and Marcus Lavake among others.

While the show is free, anyone looking to support the Festival or Mount Rushmore as a whole can find a link to donate to them here.
