Hill City already booming with tourism
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Hill City is experiencing an uptick in summer tourism this year, bringing a welcome boost to the local economy.
Tourist season in the Black Hills starts in May and continues into September. Janet Wetovick-Bily, the executive director for the Hill City Chamber of Commerce, says Hill City has seen more travelers than normal for June.
“We’ve already seen a 20% increase in our foot traffic and visitor traffic over last year at the same period, so we’re super happy about that and excited for the opportunities for our businesses,” Wetovick-Bily said.
Wetovick-Bily says the community is optimistic about keeping this positive trend throughout the rest of the tourist season.
