Rapid City Streets Division welcomes new feathered mascots

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The Rapid City Streets Division got new mascots, and Rapid City students were some of the first to welcome them.

Meet Plow and Patch, baby ducklings, named after snow plows and road patches. The ducklings were recently found in a north Rapid City yard. They now are under the care of the city’s streets crew members during the day.

Students from South Park Elementary were able to stop by the Streets Division Friday to say hello to Plow and Patch.

Streets Division Superintendent Jesse Rieb took in the ducklings but said he thought it was a great day to bring the pair to work.

“Knowing that the kids were coming down today, I thought it would be a good opportunity to bring them to work and let the kids see them. They’re a little small right now, so I’ll grow them up until they can live on their own, then I’ll take them to one of our ponds South of town and let them go,” Rieb said.

In addition to meeting Plow and Patch, the students made and brought thank you cards to crew members and got a tour of the various trucks.
