RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - U.S. Senator Mike Rounds was part of a group of congressmen who introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) to stop the Biden administration from making changes to Title IX.

Title IX is the 1972 ruling that gave women equal access to sports.

Now the proposed measure would overturn the Biden administration’s additions to Title IX that would redefine “sex” to include gender identity. It would also extend protections to sexual orientation.

To receive federal funding, schools must comply with these regulations.

Rounds emphasizes that the measure is not to punish children who are questioning their identity, but claims it’s a way to protect women’s sports.

“Now it doesn’t mean that we’re mad at kids who are questioning their gender, or that are concerned about their gender, there are mental health issues involved with that. but what we don’t want to do is take away the ability of girls to compete with one another and to have challenges, and they shouldn’t have to, they shouldn’t have to compete with boys. That’s what this is all about,” Rounds said.

Even if the CRA is passed in Congress, Biden will most likely issue a veto.
