Bipartisanship at play: fans react to Congressional Baseball Charity Game
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The congressional baseball game proved to be a fundraising grand slam -
Raking in more than two million dollars for local charities.
“I think it’s an awesome tradition,” said Democrat Ajay Jain. “I think it’s really cool that, you know, it’s an act of bipartisanship, really. And now we have people from both sides of the aisle coming out to support charitable causes. I think it’s really awesome.”
Kat Rummell, a Republican from Texas agrees.
“It’s something fun to bring us all together. I mean, we’ve got to come in the middle at some point. And so hopefully something fun will do that,” said Rummell.
Gray Gaertner says he’s impressed with how good these lawmakers are at baseball.
“They’re better at this than the real jobs!”
He continued to joke about future scouting opportunities,
“It’s really fun to see people competing for the next Speaker of the House. So this is what this is really about.”
