RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The city park in Sturgis has a new addition that is both entertaining and beneficial for developing minds.

The park’s new interactive drum set is a great addition, designed to help children enhance their sensory, motor, cognitive, and emotional skills. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Rotary Club, enough money was raised to purchase the equipment. The city took the initiative to install it in the city park near the playground.

Rick Bush is the director of public works in Sturgis and says children can now enjoy and benefit from this feature for years to come.

“We just felt it was a great collaborative project that we could do with both the Rotary Club and the city. These interactive musical instruments are pretty neat, they allow kids to come down and participate, and they help, you know, develop their motor skills and all kinds of great things,” Bush said.

Bush said the City of Sturgis hopes to continue to add more interactive musical instruments to their parks throughout the years.
