RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - 144 golfers gathered today for the Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity’s Tees for Keys Golf Tournament, enjoying a day on the course while raising funds for a great cause.

Today’s event was full of golf, networking, prizes, and contests to give hope to people in search of affordable homeownership.

Over the past 16 years, the Tees for Keys Golf Tournament has raised nearly $600,000 to support its mission towards affordable housing. At this year’s tournament alone, they aim to raise $75,000, covering half the material costs needed to build a brand-new home.

Kenzie Oswald is the Resource Development Administrator at the Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity and says so far, they are headed for success.

“We are right on schedule to raise $75,000 today; we have online auctions and games, and some of our golfers are just making an outright donation as well just to help the cause,” Oswald said.

The Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity has constructed and remodeled over 232 affordable homes in the Black Hills area and hopes to do many more.
