Edwardo Santiago, 39, of Rapid City was arrested in Lyman County on September 14 of last year. Police say Santiago previously told them he planned on taking the bus for a “joyride” from Rapid City to Sioux Falls.

Tuesday in court, Santiago’s attorney said he and his client are still looking for a plea deal but haven’t come to terms on one yet. He asked for a bond so Santiago could get an evaluation but was denied by Judge Heidi Linngren because she said he could still receive an evaluation in jail.

Santiago was also charged with possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia when arrested last year.

Another status hearing is set for June 18.
