Hidden Hills Backroad Tours aims to offer a unique experience
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Todd and Debbie Proctor moved to the area about four years ago settling down in a nice patch of land in Rochford. Since moving, they have grown to love their home so much that they want others to experience it as well.
That’s where the motivation to start tours into the hills originated. As part of their business, Hidden Hills Backroad Tours, Todd or Debbie load participants into their specialized van and show them hidden gems in the Black Hills.
“We’ve got a pretty extensive route approved through the forest service we’re just doing a small section of it this year but we’ll expand as needed,” Todd Proctor the co-owner of Hidden Hills Backroad Tours said.
Todd explains that he wanted to do this because he felt this service wasn’t being offered in the area, but he has another, more personal reason.
“Just love of the hills when we moved here we just fell in love with it and there’s no better stress relief than just hitting the trails and enjoying the Black Hills,” Todd said.
The Proctors have plans for the business as well, they plan to add gold panning as an activity for people to do at the start or end of their tour. Debbie says the tour is definitely something that you can bring your kids for and even encourages it.
“It’s very family friendly encouraging for families to come out have fun get out of the van. Go on hikes and just have an adventure, go on memories,” Debbie Proctor the other co-owner of Hidden Hills Backroad Tours said.
Both Todd and Debbie say they think there is value in taking the tour whether you were born in the Black Hills or you’re just visiting.
