Father, son die in crash after vehicle hits stalled traffic in interstate construction zone
TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News/Gray News) - A man, his son and their family dog were killed in a May 13 crash, which the Arizona Department of Public Safety said is being investigated as a homicide.
The agency said the crash took place just after 3 p.m. on Interstate 10 near milepost 25.
Crash investigators said a passenger sedan was traveling east on I-10 when traffic stopped in the construction zone. The sedan took evasive action, collided with a second vehicle and then pushed it into a third.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the original at-fault sedan continued eastbound and collided with the third and fourth vehicles before eventually coming to a stop.
The occupants inside the vehicle that the sedan initially collided with died due to their injuries.
Family members identified those victims as Quinn Truitt, of Tucson, his 5-year-old son Michael Truitt and their dog.
They were part of a military family at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the crash is being investigated as a homicide, but officials have not yet released the identity of the person who may be at fault in the deadly incident.
A GoFundMe has been created for Quinn Truitt’s wife and the family to help with expenses.
