DUNKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS/KAIT/Gray News) - Two men were electrocuted when a raised dump trailer came in contact with a power line in Clarkton, Missouri, Tuesday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, emergency crews were called to respond to reports of a possible vehicle fire at the city’s sewer plant with two people hurt.

Sheriff Bob Holder said authorities found two men unresponsive, lying near a semi-truck and trailer when they arrived at the area.

According to the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office, John Langston and William Lesslie, both of Clarkton, died at the scene.

Deputies say the dump trailer was in an upright position and had been raised to unload the gravel in the trailer.

While in the raised position, they say a part of the trailer came in contact with a high-voltage power line, electrocuting the two men.

Utility crews were called to disable the electric lines.

An investigation into how the incident happened is ongoing.
