Rapid City Fire Department holds Fire Tower showcase for cadets
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Prepare, prevent, and protect. Three words Rapid City Fire Department cadets demonstrated during today’s “fire tower showcase.”
The showcase gave cadets a chance to show off skills they acquired since entering the cadet program.
The program launched last November, is in its first year and was created for high school juniors and seniors. During the showcase, the department recognized four graduating seniors for their achievements in the program. The seniors joined their team of cadets in a series of drills including a “two-minute gear drill,” “fire hose deployment,” and “victim search and rescue”.
“I wouldn’t have ever guessed of the extent that some of these classes, lessons that we’ve learned would’ve gone as good as they did. Or, we would’ve had as much fun as I did. But it’s just exceeded my expectations,” RCFD cadet Adam Marcks said.
After the program was completed, some cadets plan to join the department in various roles.
