New Deadwood Gaming Association Executive Director named George Milos
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Deadwood is full of slot machines and sports betting, and the position overlooking those aspects needed to be filled. George Milos was hired as the Executive Director of Deadwood Gaming Association on May 15 after the sudden departure of Mike Rodman.
Milos spent 13 years with the Deadwood Chambers and Visitors Bureau and was most recently the Director of Event Services for the Deadwood Mountain Grand.
During his time at both gigs, he organized press junkets for ESPN, Showtime, and HBO.
The Deadwood Gaming Association is one of its kind as it is the only non-profit association representing South Dakota’s commercial casino industry.
Milos says the association has made an economic impact in both the region and South Dakota since its founding in 1990.
“Every year, the tax revenue generated from Deadwood Gaming goes to the state general fund. It goes to South Dakota Tourism; it goes to Lawrence County, (and) to historic preservation,” Milos says.
Milos added that since 1990, the tax revenue has made up approximately $16 million every year and Deadwood Gaming has been responsible for creating thousands of jobs.
