RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - We have an unsettled weather pattern this week as a trough out west sends disturbances across the northern plains. Periods of scattered showers are likely from time to time through Wednesday morning. Thunderstorms will be likely further south and east where the airmass will be warmer and more unstable.

Wednesday will turn drier and milder, with warm 70s returning Thursday. A vigorous trough will move from west to east across the area Thursday afternoon and evening, triggering thunderstorms, some of which could be strong. The next chance of storms will be Saturday night into Sunday, with again a strong storm or two possible then. Hopefully, we’ll be able to clear out by Memorial Day.
