RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - A Rapid City woman was sentenced last week for animal neglect.

Lauri Jobbins, 66, pleaded guilty to four counts of aiding and abetting animal neglect. Jobbins reached a plea agreement with the state back in March, which led to the remaining counts being dismissed.

Jobbins and her husband Kenneth Jobbins, 73, were arrested in January 2023 when the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office found dead and neglected animals on their property, a total of 14 horses and two donkeys.

Magistrate Judge Scott Bogue sentenced Jobbins to four years in jail with all but ten days suspended, meaning once she serves those ten days she will be out. Bogue also banned Jobbins from owing large farm animals throughout her sentence.

Kenneth Jobbins’ jury trial is scheduled to start July 25.
