Man arrested for car theft, murder
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - On May 12, after a 3:45 a.m. call to the police of a reportedly stolen vehicle, police met with the rideshare driver on 3276 Cambell Street.
The driver had recently picked up a rider, later identified as Cole Younger, 35, of Rapid City, and drove him to 1600 Sedivy Lane. On arrival, Younger exited the car, entered the building of B&T Manufacturing, and came out a short time later. The driver then took Younger to 3276 Cambell Street. On arrival at the Circle K, Younger took out a knife and told the driver to exit the car.
A Pennington County Sheriff’s Office deputy located the car a little later driving eastbound on Catron Boulevard. After issuing a traffic stop, the car stopped in the area of Highway 79 and Old Folsom Road. Younger was ordered out of the car and put in handcuffs. Younger was then arrested for first-degree robbery and driving without a valid license, then he was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
Later that morning at 11 a.m., police were called to 1313 N. Lacrosse Street for a report of an unresponsive woman located in a room at the Rodeway Inn Rapid City.
Police determined the woman was dead with a laceration to her neck. She has been identified as Brandi Snowfly, 41, of Rapid City. Preliminary information garnered at the investigation, police believe Snowfly entered the hotel with Cole Younger. After an undisclosed period, Younger exited the hotel before summoning the rideshare service.
As a result, first-degree murder has been added to Younger’s offenses, and he remains in custody. It is believed Younger and Snowfly knew each other before her death, and police have no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.
