RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - A man accused of scamming $100,000 in gold and cash from an elderly woman is back in Seventh Circuit Court this afternoon, challenging statements he gave to police after he was arrested.

Abdul Waheed Mohammed, 31, is charged with aiding and abetting grand theft, and his attorney argued that he didn’t understand his Miranda rights when he initially gave an interview with police.

Prosecutors argued that Mohammed understood his rights, telling the police that he would tell them everything and then get an attorney later.

Judge Robert Gusinsky said he believed Mohammed knew and understood his rights. He’s set to go to trial on July 31.
