The Pennington County Sheriff’s office changing patrol cars
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) -The Pennington County Sheriff’s office in Rapid City is changing the patrol cars.
The updates include changes to the color scheme and design of the decals on the vehicles. These changes provide the patrol vehicles with a more modern look and differentiate them from other local agencies.
Sheriff Brian Mueller assembled a group of deputies responsible for the new design. The patrol cars will receive the update over the next few years.
The deputies considered several factors to create the new decals, including research of trends and designs from other law enforcement agencies around the country while keeping the cost for the decals to a minimum.
Patrol Lieutenant Casey Kenrick with the sheriff’s station said the cost will not increase for taxpayers. They are only putting the new decals on new vehicles that come into the fleet, and as vehicles get damaged, they will replace the graphics of the older patrol car with this newer style. Along with this new decal package, the added benefit is significantly less cost than the old one, which benefits the taxpayers. The new design will also feature Mount Rushmore, a national monument to the area, on every sheriff vehicle, continuing its unique presence on the sheriff’s badges.
