Turning warmer today with 70s in the forecast.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Southerly winds will usher in some warmer air today. Look for sunshine and 70s on the plains, 60s in the higher hills.

These winds will also bring in some moisture and by Thursday, we’ll see some afternoon thunderstorms pop up around the Hills. One or two of these storms might contain hail and gusty winds. There is a Marginal (1 in 5) Risk for severe storms tomorrow, we’ll keep you advised.

A strong low pressure area will move northeast into the northern plains on Friday. Widespread rain and gusty winds will occur Friday through Sunday morning. Some areas may see some decent rain totals.

We’ll clear out and warm up early next week.
