RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Governor Kristi Noem joined CNN’s State of the Union Sunday to discuss topics ranging from abortion to President Donald Trump’s pending trial.

When asked about the former President, Noem, a potential running mate for Trump this 2024 election year, said she will stand by him. She told CNN she believes the justice system is currently being used against certain members of certain parties and not against others, referring to President Joe Biden and his son Hunter. She went on to say this needs to change.

“I think it’s a little ridiculous that they’ve waited years to bring these types of charges against Donald Trump. Uh, you know, if they wanted to make these kinds of charges against him, they should have done it two years ago when this happened. To do it conveniently during a presidential election when he’s campaigning to turn to the White House, I think proves that this is all politically motivated,” Noem said.

Noem went on to say she hopes the people and the jury will, “do what is right and hear the evidence and see clearly that this is an unprecedented trial by how ridiculous it is.”
