18-year-old dies after fall while playing game of tag using squirt guns
AVON, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) - Police say an 18-year-old playing a game of tag using squirt guns fell and hit his head while trying to jump onto a car. He died at the hospital.
Police say officers were called to Crown Colony Drive in Avon, Ohio, around 3:40 p.m. Saturday for a report of a car vs. a pedestrian. Upon arrival, they found a woman performing CPR on an 18-year-old man, according to a police report.
The young man was taken to the hospital, where he died around 5:30 p.m., the report says.
According to WOIO, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 18-year-old as Paul Allen.
Police say Allen and the driver of the vehicle knew each and were involved in a game of tag using squirt guns. The driver was returning home when Allen approached him from his driveway, according to the report.
Police say when Allen tried to jump onto the car, he fell backward into the roadway, hitting his head.
Allen, who went by Luke, was a senior at Avon High School at the time of his death, according to his obituary. He planned on attending Northern Michigan University in the fall.
The incident is still under investigation.
