National Agriculture Week celebrated in the Black Hills
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Since Sunday, Farmers and ranchers from all over the country including South Dakota have been celebrating their way of life and all the hard work that goes into making the agriculture industry thrive.
Today (Tuesday) marks the third day of National Agriculture Week giving agricultural enthusiasts in the Black Hills an opportunity to salute local farmhands and reflect on how agriculture is the number one economic sector in South Dakota.
The week is unique in itself as it also allows people to give thanks to an industry that is a vital source of fiber and food abundance. Something some people may take for granted.
Assistant General Manager of the Central States Fair John Kaiser says Agricultural Week plays a significant role in the state.
”It really highlights, not only what our region does but what our state does as far as ranching and farming and really putting a spotlight on the farmer’s table and how everybody’s food comes together and how it all applies to South Dakota,” says Kaiser.
The week also highlights the millions of jobs and careers that have been created due to the agricultural industry. National Agriculture Week runs from March 17th through Saturday the 23rd.
