21-year-old woman killed after father of her child allegedly ran her over

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE/Gray News) - A 21-year-old woman was killed after the father of her child allegedly ran her over.

WVUE reported that the incident happened on Monday around 11 a.m. near the intersection of St. Roch Avenue and Marais Street in the New Orleans area.

Surveillance video reportedly showed Anastasia Rayborn getting out of Anthony Cooper’s vehicle. After Rayborn got out of his car, she was fatally struck and pronounced dead on the scene.

The SUV was found crashed into the side of a pink building at the intersection.

“He just drove over her,” one witness told WVUE. “Right through here.”

A man at a building across the street said it sounded like a box truck hitting a pothole. He reported seeing Cooper get out and look at the woman’s body.

Police said Cooper was detained at the scene. He is being held on a $2 million bond.
