TABOR, Iowa (WOWT/Gray News) – A 94-year-old man died in a Iowa grain bin Monday, according to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials with the sheriff’s office said it appeared Robert Smith was helping in a bin unloading soybeans while running a grain vacuum when he died.

Smith’s son was reportedly outside moving the tractor-trailer they were loading at the time. When he returned, he found Smith under the beans.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. His body is being sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
