WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Biden is looking at an all-but-certain clean sweep on Super Tuesday. However, for Democrats, the real question is whether the President can unite his party ahead of the general election and also win over wavering independent voters.

The past few weeks have revealed concerns about his prospects rooted in early primary election results.

In last week’s Michigan primary, Biden won 81 percent of the vote. But more than 100,000 Democratic voters cast “uncommitted” protest ballots rather than support the president, signaling some disunity in the party.

Even his stronger supporters acknowledge Biden has his work cut out for him between now and the general election in November.

Marcus Mason, member of the Democratic National Committee, said, “I think the best argument for the president is ‘you elected me to get things done and I got things done. You didn’t elect me to create chaos. You elected me to correct the chaos that was created by my predecessor.’”

At home, Biden can point to a strong economic record. However, polls show that strong job growth and declining inflation aren’t resonating with voters. In most national polls, a significant percentage of voters have expressed concerns about the President’s handling of the migrant crisis at the U.S. southern border and about the President’s age.

Among Democrats, there is disappointment among progressives with the way Biden has dealt with the ongoing war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.

“I think the president is working hard with it with the government in Israel. But you have to have two willing partners to broker a deal like that. And so I do believe that there will be something in place,” said Mason.

With eight months until election day, the Biden campaign believes as he travels the country and reminds voters what he’s done, the President will be in a good position to beat Donald Trump once again.
