2-year-old killed by dogs in ‘tragic accident,’ family says

NEW HOPE, Ala. (WAFF/Gray News) - A 2-year-old boy was killed after dogs attacked him on Friday.
The owner of the dogs believes the boy got into his backyard by opening the gate by himself. The gate was latched but not locked.
“This was just a very tragic accident with no one to be held at fault,” the boy’s mother wrote on Facebook.
The owner says his dogs, a Husky and a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix, have never harmed anyone before.
The boy was identified as Mark Alan.
Madison County Coroner Dr. Tyler Berryhill confirmed that the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Berryhill says he sustained fatal bite wounds, and an autopsy will be performed this week.
