Man charged in wife’s Christmas Eve cold case murder more than 20 years ago

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY/Gray News) - An Alabama man was arrested and charged with the Christmas Eve murder of his wife more than 20 years ago, according to the Dothan Police Department.
Dwight Mills, 69, was taken into custody on Monday.
Authorities believe he is responsible for the murder of his wife, Sharon Marie Mills, on Christmas Eve in 2001.
On Dec. 30, 2001, Sharon Marie Mills was reported missing in Dothan, Alabama, by her husband Dwight Mills. A month after she was reported missing, her body was found in a drainage ditch near Bonifay, Florida.
Dwight Mills is charged with murder and abuse of a corpse. He is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
