Boy, 11, attacked by pack of dogs while walking to his bus stop
CLINTON, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) - An 11-year-old South Carolina boy faces a long road to recovery after he was attacked by a pack of dogs while walking to a bus stop, his mother says.
Police say an 11-year-old boy was heading to a bus stop in Clinton around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday when he was attacked by a pack of four dogs, WHNS reports.
Officers say a neighbor was able to shoo the dogs away and contact law enforcement. Natasha Mims, the neighbor who helped the boy, says she knows him and his mother.
“I was just like, ‘Oh no, I’ve got to go get help.’ Because there were four big dogs, I’m scared,” Mims said.
Police say the 11-year-old sustained “very serious injuries” and was flown to the hospital for treatment.
The boy’s mother, Amy Lowe, says he is in stable condition but has a long road to recovery. She adds he was bitten around 60 times during the attack.
Police say two of the dogs were put down while two others escaped. The owner of the dogs has not been identified.
