Walmart evacuated after driver crashes car into front of store, dies
NEWTON, Kan. (KWCH/Gray News) - A woman in Kansas has died after crashing into an area Walmart.
According to the Newton Police Department, Wanda Hoyle, 69, crashed into a Walmart on South Kansas Avenue Friday morning.
Officials said she suffered a medical emergency before the crash.
Her vehicle ended up smashing through the front wall of the store and into the vision center.
First responders pronounced the woman dead after she was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
The Walmart location was evacuated because of structural damage to the building.
The city of Newton code enforcement ordered the store to remain closed until crews could evaluate the building’s structure.
No other injuries were reported.
